NIAS Response Deployment Plan for Improving Response Times (closed on 02/10/06) [28/07/06 @ 16:00]

The Trust is currently in the process of consulting local stakeholders to develop our Response Deployment Plan for Improving Response Times.

Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 requires public authorities to have due regard to the promotion of equality of opportunity;

between persons of different religious belief, political opinion, racial group, age, marital status or sexual orientation;
between men and women generally;
between persons with a disability and persons without; and
between persons with dependants and persons without.

Without prejudice to these obligations, public authorities are also required to have regard to the desirability of promoting good relations between persons of different religious belief, political opinion or racial group.

The questionnaire in Appendix B of the Response Deployment Plan for Improving Response Times may assist you in providing a response in relation to the proposals outlined and in particular in relation to any potential equality impact.

Please forward responses to:

Modernising Services - £2 million for new Ambulances[10/07/06 @ 11:05]

On 26 June 2006, Health Minister, Paul Goggins (during his Ministerial Keynote speech) announced that £2 million is to be made available to NIAS to fund 20 new front line ambulances. In paying a glowing tribute to the work and dedication to duty of the ambulance service staff, Minister Goggins acknowledged the necessity for a state of the art ambulance fleet.

“This is good news for the Ambulance Service and for people needing an emergency ambulance. This investment will provide the Ambulance Service with state-of-the-art vehicles needed to provide 21st Century emergency health care. Ambulance crews provide a first class emergency service and I wholeheartedly applaud their work. These new ambulances will be placed in stations throughout Northern Ireland.”
