The Northern Ireland Ambulance Services employs more than 1100 people, and everyone has a role to play in providing a service to a patient - the focus of what we do.

We employ more than 800 frontline staff operating in both emergency and non-emergency work which are based at over 40 ambulance stations and deployment points across the whole of Northern Ireland. Over 100 people work in our two control rooms in Belfast and Londonderry. The Regional Emergency Medical Dispatch Centre (REMDC) based at Ambulance Headquarters deals with 999 calls, Doctor Urgent Requests etc and employs around 70 personnel who operate on a shift basis to provide cover 24/7 cover. The Regional Non- Emergency Medical Dispatch Centre (RNEMDC) based in Altnagelvin deals with non-emergency patient transportation issues including taking patients to outpatient appointments throughout Hospitals in Northern Ireland, discharges etc. Over 20 staff are employed in this area of management.

Our support services Directorates also play a vital role in our day-to-day work, from managing our finances, keeping our IT systems working, to recruiting and employing new staff and keeping them informed and up-to-date.
