3 Critical following RTC in Co Antrim [28/06/10]
The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service responded to a single car Road Traffic Collision on the Leathemstown Road, near Dundrod, at 6.20 on Monday 28 June.
Four A&E vehicles were despatched to the call along with an on call officer and a BASICS Doctor, the first vehicle arriving in 10 minutes.
On arriving at the scene the crews were met with a scene of devastation where a car had left the road and all the occupants had been ejected as a result of the impact. Paramedics immediately set about triaging the
casualties to ensure that those with the most serious injuries were treated first.
PSNI officers who were first on the scene had commenced CPR on at least one of the casualties. The paramedics and Doctor used Advanced Life Saving techniques to resuscitate 2 of the casualties at the scene before
transporting them, along with another critically injured person, to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
One other person involved in the incident and who had left the scene was later discovered nearby and transported to hospital with serious injuries.
